Over the past four years, the TDS community has shown tremendous generosity through our Give DeKalb County campaigns. The giving day program, with its bonus match, has become our largest annual fundraiser and supported projects that are already making an impact on the lives of students, teachers, and families in the Mara region. Through Give DeKalb County, we have been able to support the purchase of thousand of books, connected the Madaraka Nyerere Library and Community Resource Center (LCRC) to the internet, and hired dedicated staff to ensure that schools in the villages around the library are able to take full advantage of its resources.
Despite the tangible progress that has been made, we know that more resources are needed to reach more children and families. The popularity of the new pre-primary reading program has forced LCRC staff to expand the children's area of the library. This will require the purchase of mats, furniture, learning materials, and a lot more children's books!
We have also heard directly from teachers about the importance of the internet and computer labs for accessing supplemental digital materials like education videos and games. Filling the computer labs with computers has been a top priority for several years, but the cost has been prohibitively high. Thanks to a new partnership with a university in Tanzania, we have developed a lower cost solution that also provides secondary school students with an opportunity to build out their own computer labs.
We believe that education is the key to fighting poverty and your donation to TDS through Give DeKalb County 2021 will ensure that we can continue our mission to support the youth of the Mara region, especially girls, in their pursuit of a quality education.

Make a check payable to "DCCF" (checks should not be made to TDS)
Mail your check and completed form to the address on the form by May 6
